When Hélène Rebelo, 29, and her partner Edouard Beauget, 28, set out to design their home, they were hard-pressed to find the colorful, Memphis-inspired homewares they love. Tours, the Loire Valley town where they live in France, isn’t exactly a hotbed of contemporary design. So the duo decided to launch an e-commerce concept shop to right this wrong. Established in 2015, Cool Machine Shop highlights European makers in Nottingham, England, Lyon and Versailles, France, and Madrid, many of whom only stock their wares in the couple’s shop. They often create custom-made limited editions of their pieces to sell with Hélène and Edouard.
